![]() ![]() They also go to the effort of having photos of all the actors nonchalantly hanging out but they all look too well photographed so it just comes off as phony. It’s a shame really because the makers of this game wanted to try and make it as real and as immersive as possible within reason and it is a bold decision to make with an ambitious project. It’s really easy to pick at bad acting especially when it’s clearly very amateur but in a lot of instances, the awkward delivery in phone calls distracts from the horror. What lets this game down is the acting, obviously. The oversaturation of sidequests in the game causes players like myself who have a completionist attitude to feel unable to play the main story, in favor of sidequests. In addition to the nature of sidequests, so many have now been created that the player is bombarded with sidequests. There were times that I would set alarms so I could wake up in the middle of the night and play a sidequest before the time limit ran out, or complete an 8 hour event I just didn’t have enough energy for. However, I soon found that the time limits placed on sidequests made them essentially impossible to play as a working adult. At first, they were really fun! The Celestial Ball in particular stands out to me as a point in which the game and the fandom were at a peak of enjoyment. Remember how I mentioned that the game was incomplete at its release (and still is incomplete as of my writing this essay)? Well, in order to keep players engaged while waiting for new chapters, sidequests were introduced. Speaking of sidequests, I think they deserve some attention here as well.
